Japanese Gavari study findings

The ongoing Doshisha/Kyoto University socio-economic Gavari study we introduced back in late 2016 was finally unveiled at the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics’ (SASE) 30th international conference in Kyoto last month.

Prof. Sayaka Sakoda introduced the study and their preliminary  findings with the presentation below and promised to continue this researcch in Mewar again this year. She also said she hopes their work will inspire more research on this fascinating tradition from a wide variety of disciplines.

The initial riddle that sparked their interest and launched study was “Gavari participation is so economically irrational, why does it still endure?” Read their preliminary research findings for yourself and see if they are on the right track.
